Classifieds' Car Of The Day: NFS-Inspired Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Last night we watched the Need For Speed movie, and despite the glaringly obvious plotholes and inconsistencies there was one thing that left us wanting more: the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.

After seeing this rolling Ford advert, we couldn't help but fall in love with that growling V8, and have found ourselves perusing the classifieds for our own car. In the film, the star car is the GT500 Carroll Shelby was working on when he died. As such, it's pretty special, and has a frankly absurd 900 horsepower.

The 2012 example we've found has a supercharged 5.4-litre V8 producing just 550bhp. The suspension has been tuned by Ford's Special Vehicles Team with unique spring rates and dampers.

The exterior gets a bunch of badass performance upgrades, including a carbonfibre front splitter and hood with functional vents and scoops.

This example isn't cheap at £46,990, but the car is super-rare in the UK, which makes it extra cool. Plus that blue paintjob with orange stripes certainly looks the business.
