Classifieds' Car Of The Day: Seductive 300bhp Audi S2
If you were hugely excited by the Audi Quattro video from this week, it'll probably make you sad to know that buying a road-going version of this rally beast is a very expensive challenge. However, all is not lost. You can bag the car's successor, the S2, for a lot less.
The original Quattro was a tough act to follow, and the S2 never quite measured up to its legendary predecessor. The Audi Coupe-based S2 is a damn good buy though, and still has that delectable turbocharged five-pot. The S2's 2.2-litre engine develops 217bhp (227bhp in later models), and will dispatch the 0-60mph sprint in a swift 5.8 seconds.
It's also a very tuneable car; a simple remap can give a 50bhp boost, and if you're a little more dedicated, power outputs well north of 600bhp aren't unheard of. For £5995, this 1993 model already has a few modifications, but the owner looks to have gone about it relatively sensibly to give the car a potent 300 horses.
If you're still not convinced, just bear in mind that this one has a Miltek exhaust. Check out the video below to hear what these beasts sound like with a louder set of pipes.
