Classifieds' Car Of The Day: Sexy Alfa GTV V6

It was only a matter of time before we snuck a temptingly cheap Alfa onto Car Of The Day, and here's what we've come up with: a GTV coupe with a sonorous 3-litre V6 crammed into the diminutive engine bay. The looks may be polarising, but we think this is one handsome little coupe.

Alfa's legendary 'Busso' V6 is good for 220bhp in 3.0-litre form, which is enough to send the GTV to 60mph in 6.5 seconds, and on to a top speed of 154mph. Yes, it may be front-wheel drive but these cars are a hoot to drive, even if those 220 horses can overwhelm the front tyres at times.

Unsurprisingly for an Alfa of this vintage, the thorny issue of reliability has to be mentioned. Yes, 90s Alfas do have their fair share of electrical gremlins, so it'd be naive to expect a completely trouble-free ride. Mechanically though, so long as the car's been well looked after, it should last. With that in mind, a full service history is a must.

This 1999 example is practically being given away at £2350 with a full year's MOT and six months tax. Crucially though, it has the all-important full service history, and has recently had the pricey cambelt replacement sorted.
