Classifieds' Car Of The Day: Sublime VW Corrado VR6
Today we've been lusting after this fine VR6 example of VW's sports coupe effort of the 90s, the Corrado. Based on the Mk2 Golf platform, the 'Rado was available with four pot engines in either naturally-aspirated 16-valve or supercharged 8-valve flavour, but it's the VR6 version we really want.
The Corrado is one of VW's best handling cars, and is simply sublime to drive; every car fan should get behind the wheel of one at some point. As it never sold well, it's a pretty exclusive car, so you're unlikely to see many others on the road. The 2.9-litre VR6 packs a healthy 192bhp, enough to shoot the Corrado to 60mph in around 6.5 seconds, and on to a top speed 146mph.
Best feature of all? It has a spoiler that automatically raises at 45mph. Supposedly this gives a little extra downforce at the rear. Who cares whether that's true though, as auto spoilers are always damn cool.
This one could be yours for just £2695. It comes with a full service history which includes a ton of receipts, and looks like it hasn't been messed about with. Interested? We suggest you pick up the phone now, as we're getting quite tempted ourselves...
