Classifieds' Car Of The Day: V10 BMW E60 M5
We recently spent some time behind the wheel of BMW's beastly F10 M5 Competition Package (full video review coming soon!) which inspired us to scour the classifieds for second-hand examples of BMW's super saloon. The one we're most interested in is the E60, which came with a mighty 500bhp 5.0-litre V10 stuffed under the bonnet.
With all that power, these things are stupidly quick: 0-62mph is done and dusted in just 4.7 seconds, while the top speed is electronically pegged at 155mph. Take that limiter off, which many do, and 205mph is possible.
This being a BMW M car, you'll be unsurprised to learn it isn't just a straight-line rocket. These cars are superb to drive and handle brilliantly, despite the sheer size of the E60 5-series platform.
The wonders of depreciation mean this once £65k car can be picked up for as little as £12,000. A 205mph car for £12k? There aren't many other ways to go so quick for so little cash. This one we've found is a little more at £17,995, but it's done just 54,000 miles and looks to be in good order. Sure, it won't be particularly cheap to run, but it's a hell of a lot of car for the money.
