This Coachbuilt Alfa Romeo 4C Reimagination Is One Big Tease

There’s a lot of talk about Alfa Romeo’s future right now. The Italian firm recently revealed its roadmap for the future, the highlights being a 600bhp new GTV, and a 700bhp 8C successor. But you know what was missing from the plans? A replacement or even a mid-life update for the 4C.

With that in mind, this fantastic creation from Umberto Palermo Design and Adler Group is best thought of as one big tease. Catchily titled the ‘Mole Costruzione Artigianale 001’, the one-off car is - in a way - a vision of the next-gen 4C that’ll never be built.

At the front we have a Giulia/Stelvio inspired face, and Alfa’s trademark triangular grille is much more prominent than before. The rear is all squat and purposeful-looking, and just in case the standard car’s rear visibility wasn’t already awful enough, this re-imagined version now has a slatted rear deck. Not exactly practical, but damn, does it look good. The finishing touch is a diagonally-stacked quad-exhaust system.

The standard 4C’s dour interior has been given a new lease of life too, via lashings of grey and beige leather. Much of the switchgear appears to be new too, and there are lots of silver details.

There’s no word on the oily bits, but it’s safe to assume that the base car’s 236bhp, 1.75-litre inline-four turbo has been retained. In a regular 4C this makes for a 0-62mph time of 4.5 seconds.

What do you think of the Mole Costruzione Artigianale 001? Do you prefer it to the regular 4C? Comment below with your thoughts.

With the more aggressive styling, I’d hope for it to have a little more power to back up the menacing face. Maybe up the displacement to 2.5 liters and give it 350hp?

Much better than the original. The original was “nice” but never really did it for me in the styling department. Too much Lotus Elise and bug-like features.

Thats a very interesting question. My guess is that Alfa could technically prohibit this although regarding a one-off project I doubt they would bother

The perfect blend of sharp and curvy…though I’ll say I’m not the biggest fan of the interior!

The side mirrors look weird, almost as if
they forgott, that they need some, and the had to get some cheap ones from the autostore or something
