This year's Gumball 3000 featured a whole host of rare and exotic supercars, but it's this entrant's 2JZ-powered Lexus that captured our attention

In an event like the Gumball 3000 - which is made up almost entirely of fast, exotic and rare cars - a Lexus IS isn’t exactly something that’s going to get noticed. However, this car is no ordinary IS. Under the bonnet is the old JDM tuning favourite, the 2JZ-GTE straight-six. It’s been rebuilt with a host of trick bits and enlarged to 3.4-litres, and has a socking great Garrett GTX turbocharger.

As a result, it’s running a colossal 740bhp. To bring this hyper-saloon to a halt, there are Brembo six-pot callipers at the front, and four-pots at the rear. KW V3 coilovers have gone in at each corner, while the inside has been given a ‘because racecar’ makeover, courtesy of some Sparco EVO 2 bucket seats.
