If you'd just landed a €17 million a year contract, what would you do to mark the occasion? For Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, the answer is to drop $1.3 million on Ferrari's latest hypercar, the LaFerrari.
As we know, footballers should stay the hell away from expensive cars. Ronaldo has proven why before, by smashing his Ferrari 599 to bits in a tunnel near Manchester Airport.
It's been reported that the iconic Maranello manufacturer will only allow you to buy a LaFerrari if you've previously owned five cars from the Prancing Horse. Ronaldo is known to have owned four - including the one he smashed up - so some sweet talking may be needed before the keys are handed over.
Ferrari will be making just 499 of these cars. Power comes from a mid-mounted 6.3-litre V12 producing 789bhp, with an F1-style KERS system adding an extra 161bhp boost. 60mph is dispatched in under three seconds, while the top speed should exceed 220mph.
