Daniel Ricciardo Drinking Out Of His Shoe Was The Highlight Of The German GP

Daniel Ricciardo introduced us to the "shoey" at the German Grand Prix - drinking the Chandon bubbly (which isn’t actually champagne, this year) out of his shoe on the podium. We weren’t expecting that to happen!
Daniel Ricciardo Drinking Out Of His Shoe Was The Highlight Of The German GP

Lewis Hamilton stormed to a clear victory at the 2016 German Grand Prix, with his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg finishing down in fourth place after a poor first lap.

But it was Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo who provided us with the best moments of Formula 1 race day at the Hockenheimring.

On the podium, Ricciardo took off his shoe and poured the Chandon sparkling wine (there isn’t champagne on the podium anymore) into his shoe. He then proceeded to drink it out of the actual shoe he had just been racing with.

Apparently this is called a “shoey”, which sparked into Australian popular culture in 2015 and usually takes place at birthdays or special events. MotoGP’s Jack Miller did the same thing a few weeks ago after winning the Dutch GP and Ricciardo wanted to do the same after his P2 in Germany.

Ricciardo had already threw up a few great moments in the race, including this highly sarcastic radio message on Esteban Gutierrez.

He then cracked up the whole press conference room after the podium when he tried to impersonate Grand Prix Times journalist Graham Keilloh, who he thought was Irish. He’s actually Scottish.

Never change, Daniel.

The race itself wasn’t particularly thrilling, there were a few on-track incidents, scraps and some good overtakes and Hamilton put in a dominant drive to claim victory.

Behind Ricciardo, Max Verstappen completed the podium. Rosberg was fourth, ahead of the distant Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi “Bwoah” Raikkonen. F1 now heads into a summer break, with the next race not until the 28 August at Spa.

Daniel and Vettel always cracks me up so good! 😂 They both make a really funny duo together if they were to be on the podium or even in the same team together!

Ricciardo is the driver of the day for me!
But you know what’s sad? Remember his face when he was p2 in Monaco? And now look at him at p2…
I know there were different circumstances, and I’m not saying that he should be tragic about p2, but this shouldn’t be like an absolute victory, which is what it felt like… He is capable of fighting for P1, come on Daniel!

Due to the fact that the clutch is on the steering wheel I doubt its heel and toe :( now they break with one foot and accelerate with the other.
