David Brown Automotive Has Built A Rapid New Grand Tourer
David Brown Automotive, the company behind the Aston Martin-esque Speedback and Mini Remastered, is preparing another car; apparently its most performance-focused yet.
The Geneva Motor Show next month will host the new Grand Tourer – although at present that’s not expected to be its official name. Production numbers will be limited: each car will be hand-built at the company’s Silverstone headquarters.
Not very interesting, right? Actually, we can glean some useful info from between the lines. Handy, really, because the teaser shot (above, in Tweet) tells us diddly squat other than that the brand logo is monochrome. We know that this is the firm’s fastest car yet, and the language suggests by some margin. How fast is that, exactly, you ask?
The Speedback, which was based on the antiquated but lovely Jaguar XKR, was capable of 0-60mph in 4.6 seconds and a limited 155mph. The unnamed new GT may well be targeting a launch benchmark of 4.0 seconds or less to 60mph, and a top speed much more towards 200mph.
There are few solid details to go on, but bank on it being pricey. Since the Speedback cost over £500,000, you probably won’t be able to afford the new car either. But we’re looking forward to finding out more when it’s unveiled in Geneva on 6 March.

The speed back looks like a dbs on viagara
The really confusing thing is when you learn that the David Brown who makes cars that look vaguely like Aston Martins is no relation to the David Brown who made Aston Martins in the first place. The world is weird.
Reckon it’s an E type?
Too many cars I can never afford…
I reckon it’ll be a DB11 with a handbuilt body.
It might be a mg midget
Maybe a coach-built F-Type?
Amateurs, make an SUV or you shall go bankrupt.
no plz
Skyfall theme plays
Probably another car that looks like an old British GT with down syndrome and is based on an outdated chassis that nobody in the right mind would pay half a million for.
Car guys are not completely right in the mind, are they?
Now in 2018 when we all think making a brand new car company and developing a good car is harder than ever, a ton of random companies come out with some cars and we can just see what time shows and whether they will be the next big thing in the automotive world or not. But most of their car models are based off of famous models of estabilished car manufacturers like in this case. Some other new car manufacturers though, come up with never before seen cars… And this car is just a bit weird yet it has promising performance…
Kind of reminds me of games when the Xbone launched (sorry, I don’t quite PS4!). There were a ton of indie titles and such that just came outta no where when the One launched, and they are still appearing frequently. Maybe it really is easier than we think…you just need a Escaladeload of money!
