Devel Sixteen Dyno Run Shuts Every Sceptic Up By Proving It's Really Got Over 4500hp

When we first learned about a new superhypercar called the Devel Sixteen two years ago, we, and much of the world's media called BS on the car's 5000hp figure. Now, it's Devel that's got the last laugh...

Here are the specs of the engine that prove that this result really does check out:

Devel Sixteen, 12.3 Liter V16 engine, 81mm Quad Turbo, 32 Titanium Valves, Sixteen Cylinder One Billet Block, Devel Sixteen Cylinder Heads, One Billet Cam Shaft, One Crank Shaft, rated over 5000 Horsepower.

  • 4515 Horsepower @6900 rpm, 36 psi c16 (dyno could not hold any more power over 4515 hp)
  • 3519 Torque @6600 rpm, 36 psi
  • 3002 Horsepower @6900 rpm, 20 psi (on pump gas – daily use)
  • 2407 Torque @6400 rpm, 20 psi

  • The Most Powerful Engine Ever Built for a Production Car.

  • The Most Powerful Engine Ever Built on Pump Gas.
  • The First & Only V16 Quad Turbo Engine for a Production Car.

While these figures check out on the dyno, it’ll be interesting to see how that power is transferred to the huge rear wheels, and indeed, how reliable this engine will really be. Also, will the Devel Sixteen be able to hit its claimed 348mph top speed? Watch this space…

how long can it make that power for

How would the transmission or CV joints hold up without being incinerated at full power?

We get it, it has over 4500 hp, but will it be able to put those to the ground and let’s not forget about that horrendous looking body and engineering piece-of-shit!

That car is so poorly designed, there’s no sense of anything there. Diagonal emblems, really?

hate to be negative, but a 12 and a half litre engine, you sort of expect alot of power. Lorry engines like scania and volvo engines make alot of power due to pure size, back in WW2 the most famous engine the Merlin produced about 1750-2000hp and im pretty sure they didnt use turbo chargers, thats 1940’s technology. Thats due to the pure power produced from having such a big engine.

i can guarantee, if the Germans produced an engine thats 12 and half litre meant for power, they would probably be pushing 6-7 thousand horsepower but since the majority of engines that size are used on boats they go for lower power bands for reliability.

not truly doubting the car, i just feel its a scapegoat with a rich mans wallet that is taking engineering from everyone else and making a bigger and better version statistically.

Personally, given the choice i would take a single LFA over 7 of these.

You are kidding, right? Please do another research on the internal combustion engine and we can talk again.

Merlin was using a 27L engine V12 and he did only 1500hp (on his final versions) on normal pump gas and ~2500hp on 150 octane fuel with water injection for better cooling.

That ammount of power was given for short periods of time.I am sure you meant Rolls Royce Griffon, the Big Bad Daddy wich was producing ~2300hp with 2 stage superchargers with intercoolers and aftercoolers on low altitude for “daily use” but could sustain ~2700hp in combat.
In essence Griffin was Merlin with steroids!

You can have the technology but you need better materials to work with. We do not have materials to fabricate the perfect engine blocks and cylinder heads.
What does this mean?
We need materials with the ability to sustain very high PSI while conducting just a small ammount of heat.

Heat is the enemy in producing power. You need to cool down the engine block and cylinder head.
If you have some sort of material non heat conductive and strong enough to replace aluminum, in theory you could do ~150-200hp from 1L engine NA and that is just from playing with compression.

dude….. the car was a scam……… the whole car was a mess, sh*tty buildquality and all this… the dyno could also have been tamperd with to show the wrong results, 5000 hp, 560 km/h with those small brakes? not really……

Devel Sixteen, or just a brutal mash-up of the Veneno and Egoista?

well.. now the engine looks better than the car. Now what? And the biggest question is, can they develop a driveshaft and stiffen the chassis properly to handle the torque this puts out? And the brakes… Tires.. Interesting, I thought this thing was laughed out of production. I checked on it the other day to see if there was any update, and lookie here.
