Donkey Causes £5k Of Damage After Mistaking Orange McLaren For Carrot
A donkey named Fitus found was at the centre of a bizarre court case in the German federal state of Hesse this week. Why? Because the creature decided to dine out on a McLaren 650S parked near his paddock last year.
Owner Markus Zahn was left with a €5800 (£5100) bill after the curious incident, but wasn’t able to claim compensation from the donkey owner’s insurance company. The reason? The company reckoned the 49-year-old supercar owner should have picked a better parking spot.
The matter went to court, where it was decided the donkey’s owner was indeed liable for the damage.
As to why Fitus thought the 650S constituted a tasty treat, both the police and Zahn have theorised that he mistook the orange McLaren for a carrot…

Nice
we need to change the color of the CT logo now.
Not the donkey owners fault.
Well .. you know what name to give the donkey..
If the car in question was to have been a Volvo, this story would have ended very differently…
Stupid Volvo Causes 5000£ of damage
The volvo would cause 5k’s worth of damage to the donkey :P
well, i dont blame the donkey for mistaking the car as a carrot, i wouldve done the same thing
Umm…how would you know? 😆
What an ass.
so according to the video….its all theories and assumptions. did they prove it was the donkey and not just a smartass idea by the mclaren owner? mclaren owner “claims”, police have a “theory” and donkey owner “wasnt convinced” the donkey caused it. so much for innocent until proven guilty
Innocent until proven guilty doesn’t apply in this case as it is a tort matter (´civil law’ as they say in German) ; in those cases you only need proof beyond 50% credibility to win, not actually “beyond reasonable doubt”
