Don't Expect A Tesla Model 3 Before The End Of 2018, Analyst Reckons

There’s no doubt that the Model 3 is Tesla’s most important car yet. However, while the official line from the company is that production will kick off mid 2017, some are predicting a much later launch for the car.

Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas is quoted as saying: “We continue to forecast a Model 3 launch at the very end of 2018 (more than 1 year later than company target) with 60k units in 2019 and 130k units in 2020.” Given the delays surrounding the launch of the Model X, a later arrival for the Model 3 certainly isn’t outside the realms of possibility, particularly given the massive demand for the car.

If the forecast turns out to be accurate, there are two lots of bad news for those who put down Model 3 deposits. There’s the obvious part about a later arrival of the initial cars, but also the numbers themselves: we’re looking at a total of 190,000 cars in those two years, meaning the remaining 210,000 or so would-be owners could be waiting until 2021 and beyond for their Model 3s to be delivered.

A Tesla UK spokesperson told us: “we still plan to begin Model 3 deliveries in 2017.”

This news will surely shock all potential model 3 owners.
Poor guys were all charged up and waiting for their cars.
An early delivery would be electrifying news for them.

I will show myself out 😅

I think you can get a refund if you don’t want to wait any more

Exactly, even though the 330e is not as cool as a Tesla Model 3, it is something you can drive now rather than 3 years later. This is the thing I don’t really like about Tesla. It might be cutting-edge and cool now, whether it could stay fresh and cool whenever it hits the market is a question.

Tesla are like Apple. Anything with their logo on it will be overhyped, the preorder list will stretch to the moon and the customers will have to wait 5 years for something that probably won’t be that good in the first place. I’m sorry but you people just got finessed
