Drift Button Confirmed For The Ferocious New Ford Focus RS

During a certain motoring show that aired recently (yes, Top Gear), Mr Clarkson alluded to the fact that the new Focus RS might well come with a drift button as standard. Naturally, we all lost our minds…

Tonight, after a presentation on the night before the Geneva motor show, we can confirm that to be true, But not only that, as the RS will also feature launch control, which will ensure that all of the RS’s turbocharged horses (estimated at around 320hp) will be in full attack mode from the off.

There will be three driver modes available, including the aforementioned ‘drift mode’, which “allows controlled oversteer manoeuvres”, plus ‘normal’ and ‘track’.

No other technical details have been revealed, but production later this year has been confirmed. Ford remains tight-lipped on pricing, but anywhere between £30,000 and £35,000 is expected.
