The E36 M3 GT2 Is Our Limited Edition BMW Of Choice
As you may have seen, BMW has a natty new limited-run car on sale in the form of the ‘M4 DTM Champion Edition.’ This new M4 - of which only 23 will be made - gets us in mind of another special edition M Division machine: the E36 M3 Imola Individual.
It’s perhaps more commonly known as the M3 GT2, and rather like the M4 DTM Champion Edition, the mechanicals were left alone - underneath it’s all the same as the M3 Evolution, which means 321bhp from a 3.2-litre straight-six. What it did receive was a front and rear spoiler taken from the FIA-GT class II M3 race car, and a load of extra kit. All 200 were finished in Imola Red.
Just 50 came over to the UK in right-hand drive, which makes these incredibly rare, and as a consequence, very sought after. This example - number 47 of 50 - is up for a hefty £14,250. And that’s with 106,000 miles on the clock. If you want something a little less used like this one for sale at Munich Legends which has done just 22,000 miles, you’ll need a cool £22,995.
However, if kept clean and standard, one of these cars should remain a valuable collector’s item that won’t lose any money. If we had the cash (sadly, we don’t) we’d be on the phone right now…
