Eddie Jordan and his colourful array of shirts could be set to join Chris Evans and the recently-confirmed Matt LeBlanc at Top Gear.

According to a report by the Radio Times, Jordan is expected to be named as part of the team within days, although its sources state he has yet to complete the “formality” of signing a contract.

After running a team in feeder series, the Irishman founded Jordan Grand Prix in 1991. Competing in 250 F1 races, Jordan won four races and registered a best championship position of third in 1999. It was sold to the Midland Group at the end of 2004, going on to become MF1 Racing, Spyker and current team Force India.

Alongside his time owning and running a F1 team, Jordan is also best known for being a TV pundit. He was part of the BBC’s F1 coverage from 2009 to 2015, before Channel 4 took over free-to-air rights to the sport for 2016.

The Radio Times says Jordan is close to joining Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc - who was announced on Thursday - for the new series of Top Gear. It also reports that Top Gear will run with a pyramid presenting structure, with Evans at the top, and the likes of Sabine Schmitz and Chris Harris below as “semi-regulars”.

Why can’t they just throw out Chris Evans and replace him with Matthew Perry instead?

Or just throw him out.
No need to replace him with apparently eleventy million other presenters on board…
