This Ex-Police Mustang Has A 1000bhp 2JZ Under The Hood

We’ve spotted this 1992 Ford Mustang, a former cop car from Florida, that’s appeared on eBay in the US. It’s been, err, modified a bit, though. Check out that suspiciously fat back rubber.
The listing claims a frankly terrifying 1000bhp from a 2JZ GTE engine that replaced the original high-mileage 5.0-litre V8, presumably for the Japanese lump’s tuning potential.

This list of mods is long and detailed, crossing not just the upgraded ECU but almost every engine internal, from tougher pistons to better oil pumps, fuel rail and even the blow-off valve. And that’s just the engine. Transmission upgrades include, well, all of it. It seems to have been done properly. There are plenty of pictures to flick through on the listing.
There’s fully-adjustable suspension front and rear, huge brakes and a roll cage certified for running down to 8.5 seconds. And yes, it even has a parachute brake – handy for when the real cops roll into view while you’re trying a top speed run…

The seller, a chap called Manuel, says it’s never been run on the drag strip, despite it clearly having been built to compete. He’s asking $38,000 but says he’s willing to listen to offers. Any takers?

I agree with that. I don’t even really like naming a “best engine” because they all have different pros and cons. None are perfect
When you try to explain to CT that the 2JZ isn’t some godly creation and that the 5.0 has just as much, if not more tuning potential….
