F1 Cars With Classic Group C Sportscar Liveries Look Incredible
The Group C sportscar regulations in the 1980s and early 1990s were the foundation of one of the most fondly remembered eras in all of motorsport. Awesome prototypes from major car manufacturers created packed and diverse grids, and endurance racing began to approach Formula 1 levels in terms of both popularity and speed - and that ultimately led to the categories demise.
Famous cars from the era such as the Porsche 956, Mazda 787B and Jaguar XJR-14 sported beautiful liveries, from the tastefully understated to the brilliantly garish.
These superb crossover renders are the work of graphic designer Sean Bull, who has taken some of Group Cs most iconic liveries and transferred them to a 2017-spec F1 car. The results are universally stunning.
The collection covers pretty much the entire gamut of the Group C era, from the 1982 Porsche 956 right through to the Peugeot 905 Evo 2 - which would have raced in 1993 had the World Sportscar Championship not folded.
The legendary green and orange of the Mazdas instantly sticks out, and in contrast the flat grey livery on the Sauber-Mercedes C11 is beautifully minimalist.
The fantasy Lancia-Martini livery is an absolute corker - if only that’s how the current Williams livery looked!
All-in-all these classic Group C liveries look mega on modern F1 cars. Is that because the 2017 F1 cars look so good, or is it because the Group C colour schemes are so legendary? It’s probably both…

Benz and Martini omg
I would really like F1 if these brands would participate :D
Why are we not funding this!
How about a Taisan Group a livery.
We already have the martini, it’s not exact but it’s extremely similar so it doesn’t really need to be on the list
The Rothmans livery is the best
They look incredible
You know what would be better? If group C where still here…
What are we waiting for? DO THEM NOW
Never really liked the Renown… but the Sauber-Mercedes and the Jaegermeister one are fantastic.
I wonder what this one would look like?
