The weight of the current crop of Formula 1 drivers has been a hot topic recently. Toro Rosso's Jean-Eric Vergne previously revealed that he was hospitalised between the Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix due to complications related to weight loss.

In the paddock for this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, Sauber's Adrian Sutil - who didn't race with a drinks bottle in Malaysia to save weight - said he didn't eat for two days earlier in the season to lose a few kilograms.

The minimum weight limit for 2014 has increased from 642kg to 691kg, but the new V6 Turbo power-units are considerably heavier. Sutil's situation (he is one of the tallest and heaviest drivers on the grid) hasn't been helped by Sauber's overweight C33, but the team is introducing a lighter chassis for the fifth round of the year.

He told reporters in Spain:

"I was testing it a little bit here and there. Two days, no food, only drink...I tried. It was not easy but interesting what the reaction is. I'm eating now again, it's better."
