The Ferocious New 458 Challenge Evoluzione Is Too Damn Hot For The Racetrack
The 458 Challenge, Ferrari's sexy single-make race series, is getting a refresh for 2014. What you see here is the new 458 Challenge Evoluzione, the spruced-up version of the current car that Ferrari is flaunting to potential customers.
This official spy shot released by Maranello shows what teams can expect. The most prominent update is the rear wing, which has been honed through Ferrari's experience in GT racing. It works in tandem with the revised floor and front splitter to increase downforce and improve performance in terms of single lap times and over long distances. Like the 2013 car, the 2014 Evoluzione will use the same 462bhp, 4.5-litre V8 as the road going 458.
The 2013 season was wrapped up last Sunday at a wet Mugello circuit, with Italy's Giosue Rizzuto and Austria’s Philipp Baron taking their respective class titles.
