The First Full Trailer For The Bumblebee Movie Is Here

Bumblebee is getting his own spin-off film, and it doesn't look like the typical Transformers explosion-fest

For anyone over the age of 12, it’s surely quite hard to enjoy any of the Transformers films. Each is essentially a series of explosions interspersed with shoddy dialogue, finished with a hint of misogyny. You can have Anthony Hopkins saying psuedo clever things in as many scenes as you want, Michael Bay, but that won’t stop them being dumb.

But, there’s a new Transformers film coming, and it looks a very different affair to the five smashy efforts we’ve seen so far. Detailed in this new trailer, it’s a spin-off focusing on Bumblebee (simply called Bumblebee), taking place 20 years before the first film. So, he’s still wearing his classic VW Beetle clothing.

The mute Transformer is taking shelter in a Californian junk yard, where he’s discovered and befriended by a teenage girl played by Hailee Steinfeld. As you’d expect, some secretive government agency is on the hunt for Bumblebee, led by an Unexpected John Cena.

The First Full Trailer For The Bumblebee Movie Is Here

So far, so predictable, but this looks like it’s going to be a film with a little more heart than its predecessors. Sure, there are explosions, but with - for the most part - only one Transformer to follow, it won’t feel as though you’re being crushed under the full weight of Industrial Light and Magic. And here’s the kicker: it’s not directed by Bay. The 53-year-old CGI enthusiast serves as producer this time, with Travis Knight making his directorial debut on the film.

Bumblebee will be released in the USA on 21 December 2018, arriving in the UK on Boxing Day.

That Countach Transformer you are thinking of is Sideswipe if red, or his twin brother Sunstreaker if yellow.

They only “wtf” with Starscrem is that in this trailer he is shown as F4 Phantom plane, but in G1 he was F15 Eagle figher jet …

Whatever man ! This is how they should look like in original first movie.

as theres a continuity error in the trailer

the film, i guess takes place in 1970s or early 1980s, but theres multiple shots of Humvees, which only came out around the late 1980s to 1990s

weird how such an obvious error exists OR the move could take place over multiple generations, and could end with a young Shia LeBeouf buying the Camaro Bee from the junkyard, like from tranformers 1

It takes place 20 years before the first film, so 1987

I don’t get this part: “As you’d expect, some secretive government agency is on the hunt for Bumblebee, led by an Unexpected.” Unexpected who? Unexpected what? Is there something I’m not seeing here?

Since I was young I have been OBSESSED with Transformers. I have boxes of toys, comic books, videogames and they are what got me into cars.

I grew up with these movies that I absolutly love, but the last 2 where just a bit lack luster. I am getting a feeling this new movie will be a push in the right direction if they decide to relaunce the series.

I’m hopeing they do that.

Thank god its not directed by Michael Bay, the movies directed by him were awful and they ruined a bunch of iconic characters

Hey, aren’t the front fenders supposed to be his feet, and the top of the roof his chest? Oh well, I guess the new look is ok. Super stoked about having Bumblebee as a Beetle again, but why does he still have to be mute???

Perhaps to keep inline with Bumblebee’s “movie persona-“ after all, in just about all of the live action movies Bumblebee doesn’t speak.

But I suppose it would be very interesting if Bee talked, and then he lost his voice between this film and 2007 Transformers. That would provide a more thorough look at why Bumblebee is mute in the other films!
