The first race of the new Cayman GT4 Trophy is history...

Hi Guys,

so it is Monday and the first race is history. It was a pretty tense first round in the Cayman Trophy here at the Nordschleife. The qualification was delayed due to fog, so that we had to wait round about 45 mins until the officals let the more than 180 cars onto the track.

Hi Guys,

so it is Monday and the first race is history. It was a pretty tense first round in the Cayman Trophy here at the Nordschleife. The qualification was delayed due to fog, so that we had to wait round about 45 mins until the officals let the more than 180 cars onto the track.

The first few laps were not that fast as there were a few accidents and a lot of traffic on track. So we decided that i would have another go on another fresh set of tires at the end of the session to get to the front. I was able to get a more or less free lap and positioned our STILGUT Cayman GT4 as second of eleven cars in class.

At the start a 997 Cup Porsche played a trick on me and i dropped from second to fifth position in my class ( little explanation: In VLN there are three starting groups with up to 70 cars per starting group. That is the reason why i was starting together with a Cup Porsche).

During the next few laps i was busy getting back to the front, taking car after car until i was back in second position. But unfortunately the leader could managed to get away.

In the end we finished on P3. I am, more or less, happy with the result. It was a solid start into the new season.

Today (Monday, 04.04.2016) i was back behind the wheel already and i managed to do some nice POV video stuff and i am looking forward to share it with you!

If you have any questions or anything else to say feel free! As i am not 100 % sure if you want a more detailed story about the race weekend i kept it quite short. If you want it more detailed please tell me!

Best Regards,

Moritz

Nice. But I’ve got two things to ask: A) How was it driving the GT4? B) What’s the engine and how much power is it packing?

Hey Joel,

a) It is a lot of fun ;) The car has a good setup, the chassis generates a lot of mechanical grip and the brakes are just awesome, they are the same as on the 991 GT3 Cup Cars.

b) 385 HP from a 3.8 Ltr. Engine.

Best,

Moritz

I thought this raced in the Bathurst 12 Hours unless I’m thinking of something else?!

Well, the team that raced at Bathurst also competes here at the VLN but I am racing for another team called GetSpeed Performance.

Best,

Moritz
