Ford GT Suffers Monster Shunt After Spinning At Spa’s Infamous Eau Rouge

Stefan Mücke lost control of the No. 66 Ford GT at Spa’s infamous Eau Rouge/Raidillon complex after a piece of bodywork flew off the car in the final hour of the FIA WEC race

Incredibly, after such a hefty shunt, Ford has confirmed that despite Mücke suffering “a fair bit of bruising” he is okay, following medical checks at the circuit

The new ford GTs have been having a lot of issues racing this year. In the 24hrs of daytona one went into the pits for a transmission issues just 20 minutea end. Then this wreck, then their rivial the corvette in the imsa league are sailing out in front. Must be hard on the drivers

They had issues with a shift actuator that didn’t like the rough idling under yellows. They still set a hot lap early in the race that wasn’t topped until the corvette guys battled for the win

Maybe it was a tire blowout? Because the part flew off after the car started to spin.

I think the part fell out underneath the car and got lodged under the right rear wheel, and once the car went sideways it was pulled free. I don’t know though, It’s really hard to see what happened from this angle.

EDIT: actually, scratch that, it looks like the part came off the top, not underneath.

Get out. American cars CAN turn, if you know what you’re doing.

It seems that the piece flew off after the control was loose, so it was not the cause of the accident.
