Ford Has Caved To Customer Demand And Extended GT Production

I guess we should have seen this coming. Ford is adding two years to the production life of the stunning new GT.
The insane popularity of what is probably Ford’s most beautiful car ever, combined with a new decision to race the car worldwide for the next four years, has persuaded the American brand to extend production and meet a few more customer orders.

Originally pencilled in for just two years of production, the GT will now be built until 2019. Customers who just missed out on a car from the original allocation will get theirs in 2018, while those who missed the original application deadline altogether will go into the pot for 2019 cars.
Global director of Ford Performance, Dave Pericak, explained the move. “While we can’t build enough Ford GTs for everyone who has applied, we are going to produce additional vehicles in an effort to satisfy more of our most loyal Ford ambassadors,” he said.
“We want to keep Ford GT exclusive, but at the same time we know how vital this customer is to our brand.” We can only assume that’s because they have pots of cash going spare.
Still, it means there should be more on the second-hand market in years to come. Get saving.
