Ford Tuner Mountune Can Now Boost The Golf GTI To 306bhp
Mountune has joined forces with Volkswagen styling specialist fifteen52 to make hot Volkswagens look and drive even faster.
The venture, called m52, will see a host of tuning options made available for the MQB era Golf GTI, which is to say the Mk7. They’ll start with a Stage 1 kit for the common-or-garden GTI and the R, which boosts the former to a very healthy 306bhp and the latter, partly courtesy of its punchier IS38 turbo, all the way to 355bhp.
Torque for the two cars is actually quite similar, at 350lb ft and 369lb ft respectively. More models and more tuning stages will filter through during this year. In theory there’s no reason why the engine upgrades couldn’t also be applied to the Skoda Octavia vRS and Seat Leon Cupra, for example.
There will naturally be a range of new styling options, too. Expect m52 branding on wheels, body trim accessories and more. The Golf’s chassis won’t be left out, with suspension and potentially braking upgrades being planned.
Mountune’s move into Volkswagen tuning won’t affect its work with Ford. Mountune is planning business as usual with Ford’s new Focus ST and, with all the go-faster technology on it, the end results should be impressive.

I would like to put in a reservation for one lol
I’m excited to see what they come up with in the new Focus ST. Mountune has done some amazing stuff in the past, and the 2.3l Ecobeast already does 350 hp stock in the RS, so they probably could do 400+ with it.
But will they have any of this stuff in stock? 🙊
What’s with the down votes? I was referencing a common joke throughout the Ford community where quite often, Mountune parts are out of stock. Partly because they’re so popular
That was quite the different picture
Unless its AWD, what’s the shoddy engineering excuse for putting over 270 BHP thru the same wheels that are already doing other tasks like steering, and cornering? it’s silliness…
300+ BHP is made for rear drive or AWD. Otherwise one is wasting FUN (and pounds)
Try one, they’re quite composed, nothing like the understeering /torque steering handful of some FWD from a few years ago. For the record I have a rwd car because they’re far more fun.
Cough cough Civic Type R
Meanwhile MCM Golf R is pushing 372 HP …
Yes, but the price difference, economy, reliability are all factors in here
So? What’s your point? Let me guess you don’t know the difference between power to the wheels and at the crank…the MCM Golf produces about 450hp at the crank which is about 370 to the wheels after the gearbox and the AWD haldex.
Is that whp or?
Doubtful: most Uk tuners quote numbers before transmission losses, not whp.
I’m German and I couldn’t care less for another Golf version.
