Forza Horizon 2 Will Be The Best Way To Tear Up The Streets Of Southern Europe

The sequel to Forza Motorsport's open-world cousin has been confirmed, and it'll be coming to both Xbox 360 and Xbox One

Forza Horizon is a great driving game, but if we had one criticism of it, it’d be that the Colorado setting isn’t exactly inspiring. It’s good news, then, that the now-confirmed sequel of the Forza Motorsport spinoff has relocated to southern Europe. It’s not yet known if it’ll be a single location (southern France would be rather nice) or an amalgamation of several, but either way, it’s not a bad destination to plump for.

That’s not the only tasty change in store. Horizon 2 will have a dynamic weather system, while the ‘Driveatar’ AI system seen in Forza 5 will be adapted for the game. Hundreds of cars will be available, including - as you’ll have guessed from the cover art - the new Lamborghini Huracan..

One thing we’re less excited to see is the continuation of the peculiar music/car festival mash up seen in the first Horizon title, which will remain a central feature in Horizon 2.

Interestingly, and unlike the last game in the series - Forza 5 - Horizon 2 won’t be an Xbox One exclusive. It’ll also be available for the now replaced Xbox 360, albeit with the 360 version retaining the original Forza Horizon engine, and the Xbox One edition using an entirely new framework. IGN reports that Horizon 2 will be jointly developed between Playground and Turn 10.

Both versions of the game will be available this autumn, and will be showcased at next week’s E3 Expo in Los Angeles.
