Fuji Heavy Industries Will Soon Be No More: Get Ready For 'Subaru Corporation'

If you know a thing or two about Subaru, you’ll probably be aware the Japanese car maker is part of a massive conglomerate called Fuji Heavy Industries. But, all that’s set to change, with the multinational announcing that it’ll change its name to ‘Subaru Corporation’.

The move comes 13 years after the company changed its logo to Subaru’s iconic six-star emblem, but this further step to “enhance the Subaru brand and achieve even greater growth for Subaru as a distinctive global brand,” isn’t definite just yet - it’ll need shareholder approval first. Assuming that does happen at the next general shareholder meeting on 28 June 2016, a tentative date of 1 April 2017 is given for the name change.

This means it’ll coincide with the 100th anniversary of the founding of Nakajima Aircraft, the company that evolved into Fuji Heavy Industries, a name adopted in 1953. The Subaru brand followed in 1958 when the conglomerate entered the car making business, getting its name and logo from the Pleiades star cluster to symbolise the six companies that merged to create FHI.

They should put the FA20 to work hard and then make 350 hp. So it would be aceptable for the next STI model. WRX means 4x4 4banger boxer

When i read the “Fuji heavy industries will soon be no more” my heart stopped a bit, but i don’t know why it did because all subaru makes now is literally sh!t.. same with mitsubishi, in my opinion the evo 7, 8, 9, and 10 needed to go away, same with the current impreza..

As popular as subaru engine swaps are for Cessna aircraft, they might as well do that.

all these companies owning other companies can get really confusing as to who is making what. Volkswagen makes Bentleys, Audis and Lamborghinis and Bugattis and Volkswagens; Toyota makes Subarus, Lexus and Toyota’s; BMW makes Rolls-Royces and BMWs; Mercedes makes not so SMART cars and Mercs. Mercedes AMG makes AMG Mercedes which really means that Mercedes makes AMGs that are made by Mercedes that are made by AMG.
