Full Performance Figures Of The Absurd McLaren P1 Hypercar Have Landed
McLaren has released new performance figures of its absurd P1 hypercar, and they make for some stimulating reading.
The McLaren P1 can hit 0-62mph in just 2.8secs, 124mph in 6.8secs and will top out at a limited 217mph. We need one in our lives. We need one in our lives now!
The stats mean that the McLaren thumps Porsche’s 918, which takes more than a second longer to hit 124mph (7.9secs) and which has a top speed of just 211mph.
While the McLaren’s 0-186mph time of 16.5secs might not seem too shabby, it's a second slower than Ferrari’s La Ferrari. As yet, the Italians remain tight-lipped on any other times.
The P1’s ludicrous performance comes thanks to a 3.8-litre, twin-turbocharged V8, which is boosted by an electric motor. Together, they deliver 908bhp.
The brakes should perform like the proverbial anchors, too, with the Woking-based company quoting a 62-0mph time of in just 30.2m – less than a third of the distance required by the Highway Code.
Despite all this performance, McLaren says the P1 returns 34mpg, can travel 6.8 miles in full electric mode and releases emissions of 194g/km.
Meanwhile, one lucky owner has already taken delivery of a P1 finished in Volcano Yellow – if he or she is reading, we’d be more than happy to take it for its first official test drive.
You can see the mighty McLaren - a car which will feature in the new series of Top Gear - in action below.
