Good Guy GM Won't Junk Your Warranty If You Break Your Chevrolet Camaro On Track
If the only thing holding you back from a track outing in the new Camaro is a concern over something going wrong and landing you with a big bill, there’s no need to worry. Camaro Chief Engineer Al Oppenheiser has said that if you experience an issue on track while driving one of the new sixth-gen Camaros, General Motors will still honour the warranty.
There are things to bear in mind such as modifications, but if you play by the rules, your car is covered. Speaking to Motor Authority, Oppenheiser said: “if you’re not modifying your car and you take your production car to a track day and you have an issue with one of your parts, it’s covered under warranty….We know when somebody changes their ECM calibration and we know if they changed to a cold-air intake, we can tell all that. But driving it as you break it in from the dealership, if you have a half-shaft or whatever, it’s covered.” Another caveat is that it depends what Camaro you’re driving: you’ll need to be in an SS model or higher to be covered.
As a reminder, thanks to a lower weight figure and an increase in power, the new SS is actually as fast as the old Z/28, with its 6.2-litre V8 hauling it from 0-60mph in four seconds dead.

They will just recall it.
Darn start keys…
That’s great news! Now I just need a Camaro. Oh wait.. I’m poor.
I’m confused with “the new SS is actually as fast as the old Z/28” so they’ve make it slower before the brand new Camaro SS?
the new Camaro SS is as fast as the last generation Camaro Z/28. The new Z/28, obviously still being faster than the new SS.
You should definetly tell jalopnik
That was just the 6 cylinder not the SS so it wasn’t covered ^^
Interesting
How about bumper to bumper warranty?
“unlimited mileage bumper to bumper warranty” Doug Demuro
Even with a warranty too bad the 6.2 sucks

New Car warranties are terrible.. no matter who gives them..
If there is no code in the Computer the dealerships won’t fix a thing..
They are totally pointless..
Ford warrantied my mustang for rear gear whine. Got new gears and a brand new torsen diff :)
It’s an unbelievable fact that the new V8 Camaro is as fast as the old Z/28. I rather have the old Z/28 with the gorgeous 7 litre engine and driver focused upgrades from a normal Camaro. Still the new one is something to take a closer look at. :)
