Are you a James May fan? Do you like a spotless Porsche? Then we have good news, as May’s gorgeous 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera is set to go up for auction with Bonhams at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month.

You may well have seen the car before, as it made appearances in an episode of ‘James May’s Toy Stories’ and in the brilliant ‘James drives to work’ Top Gear online series.

The now former Top Gear presenter purchased the car in 2007 for £15,250. He claims it is the “best car he has ever bought” and also describes it as a “good’un.”

It’s powered by a 3.2-litre flat-six engine with 231bhp, which will get you from 0-60mph in 5.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 152mph.

The car has been driven by May’s father for the last four years, but he recently decided he was “getting on a bit to be seen in a retro stockbroker’s car”. Also, Captain Slow’s mother didn’t like it, for whatever reason.

It has 55,000 miles on the clock, is in the condition that you would expect from any car-obsessed human being and is going under the hammer at the Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed auction with an estimate of £28,000 - 34,000 (actually quite a comparable price to a non-celebrity-owned 911 Carrera of a similar vintage).
