Good News: Second-Generation Subaru BRZ Is Still On
Fuji Heavy Industries boss Yasuyuki Yoshinaga has confirmed that the sports car won't die out after just one generation
Amid disappointing sales, it had been feared that the next generation of the BRZ sports car was effectively dead. However, Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, boss of Subaru parent company Fuji Heavy Industries, has confirmed that the BRZ will indeed get a second generation. It could even still be built in collaboration with Toyota, in addition to that company’s joint venture with BMW.
The Toyota/BMW project is expected to result in a hybrid sports car that will be a much more powerful and expensive vehicle, so the second-generation GT86 won’t create an awkward in-house rival.
We’re big fans of the GT86/BRZ/FR-S trio, so the prospect of a second generation for these cars is something that excites us greatly. What do you think?
