Ferrari is celebrating 60 years of collaboration with Pininfarina by making the stunning Sergio concept a reality. Six cars will be made, and if the photos that have surfaced are anything to go by, it will be a pretty compromise between the crazy concept and the 458 Spider on which it is based.

Revealed in 2013 at the Geneva Motor Show, the Pininfarina Sergio concept took a 458 Spider and transformed it into a mad future/retro sports car. It has no windscreen and no windows, and a stunning curvaceous roll bar.

If these images prove to be the final product, it’s clear the production Sergio will make compromises for the real world. With the windscreen in place, it looks much closer to its 458 roots, albeit with the swooping headlight redesign and that gorgeous roll bar carried over from the concept.

It’s no surprise the Sergio has been toned down for the production version, but I can’t help but feel like the front end has lost a lot of its impact. That rear half is just out of this world, though.
