This Guy Bought A McLaren 720S And Destroyed It The Next Day
With 710bhp developed by its 4.0-litre V8 - all of which is sent rearwards - the McLaren 720S is not a car you want to take liberties with. It’s a car where full throttle applications have to be taken seriously - they’re something to work your way up to. Otherwise, you might end up like this 720S owner.
The driver destroyed the McLaren in a crash on Saturday morning near Great Falls, Virginia, having apparently only been purchased the previous day. Egg, meet face.
The 720S starts at $284,745 in the USA, so it’s likely this example weighed in over $300,000 with options.
We’re not entirely sure how the driver crashed, with the Fairfax County Police merely saying that the wreck happened “because of speed”. We’ll let you speculate.
The owner was taken to hospital with “only non-life threatening injuries,” the authorities said.

“The Zonda R will go from 125mph to a dead stop in 4.3 seconds. The only way to stop faster is to hit a tree” - Jeremy Clarkson.
This guy has definitely broken the Zondas deceleration record. 😛

I remember that line and it made my day
Can this be a top comment of the week! @carthrottle staff
Well, when life gives you McLarens, you have to make McLaren-ade!
What ?
looks like he put the power down too aggressively coming out the corner, oversteered and crashed
You mean have his rear wheels spin too much into a corner, crash into a tree and die? (Except he didn’t die)
He just roleplayed this hero
Non life-threatening injuries doesn’t necessarily mean just walking away, the owner has apparently serious injuries and was found unconscious at the scene.
Something about this image makes me uncomfortable
Hope it purchased GAP insurance. Hope he gets a full recovery.
I bet he did 2 360 spins before hitting the tree………
#badpunalert
At first I read that as 2,360 spins.
Destroyed in Great Falls, VA. His bank account must have taken a great fall….
