It should go without saying that standing on a live race track - even if your intentions are good - is a massive no-no. Fortunately, the man trying to warn touristenfahrten participants about the oil spill managed to escape from the incoming E46 BMW in the nick of time.

However, that’s not the only unfortunate aspect to this video: despite flashing yellow lights and the guy filming waving his own yellow flag (no marshals are present during tourist sessions), numerous drivers failed to slow down, many spinning off and crashing as a result.

Is that M3 okay? I mean, obviously there was some damage, but it can be repaired, right?

Looks like Clifford must have taught some of these BMW drivers…

Who got the oil spill? should have put up several warning Triangles down the track..

BMW Drivers, even in their homeland, don’t pay attention to given signals.

and then they will be charged NOT only to repair the car, but for the towing and for the cleaning of the track from the spilled parts…. shame on you nurburgring had to clean it quicker

I was the driver of the silver BMW E30 M3 that slid off but did not hit anything after the blue Ford Focus (and yes also the guy in the blue t shirt!)
Incredibly stupid I know but at the adrenalin fuelled time my instinct was to try and save people from hitting the oil spill and coming off!
There were no yellow flags until after the grey Bmw E46 M3 came off and hit the barrier and the yellow flag you can see in the video was not from a marshal but from the guy filming high up in the spectator spot.

This was on touristfarten day so no marshals around the track and in the 8 years I’ve been doing touristfarten it’s generally the done thing to warn others of an incident until the track is shut or the incident is cleared.

But from behind he barrier!
