Round five of the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge took place last weekend at Long Beach, supporting the IndyCar series. It was a messy race and the stewards eventually handed penalties to 20 of the 40-driver field. That’s right, half of the grid were penalised.

They range from fines and lost points to grid drops for the next round. Driver misconduct, passing under yellows and unsportsmanlike conduct were just a few of the reasons.

Here is the full list, with the reason for the penalties in brackets:

  • Johnny O’Connell, Cadillac Racing Cadillac ATS-V.R - $3,000 and 30 driver points (driver conduct)
  • Bryan Heitkotter, AE Nissan GT Academy Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 - $5,000, 20 driver points and loss of grid positions for round six (driver conduct and movement prior to start)
  • Robert Thorne, K-PAX Racing with Flying Lizard Motorsports McLaren 650S GT3 - $5,000 and 30 driver points, pit lane start for round six (driver conduct)
  • Martin Fuentes, Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 - $5,000 and 40 driver points (pass under yellow)
  • Christina Nielsen, TRG-AMR Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 - $1,000 and 20 driver points (driver conduct)
  • Eric Lux, DragonSpeed Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 - loss of two grid positions for round six (being out of position on a restart)
  • Kevin Estre, K-PAX Racing with Flying Lizard Motorsports McLaren 650S GT3 - $3,000, 30 driver points and loss of two grid positions for round six (driver conduct and being out of position on a restart)
  • Henrik Hedman, DragonSpeed Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 - $1,000 and 20 driver points (driver conduct)
  • Colin Thompson, Kelly-Moss Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup - $5,000 and 40 driver points (pass under yellow)
  • Lorenzo Trefethen, ANSA Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 Cup - $5,000, 40 driver points, $1,000 and 20 driver points (pass under yellow and driver conduct)
  • James Sofronas, GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra - $1,000 and 20 driver points (driving conduct and using pit lane to pass)
  • Chris Dyson, Bentley Team Dyson Racing Bentley Continental GT3 - $5,000 and 40 driver points (pass under yellow)
  • Drew Regitz, Stephen Cameron Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra - $5,000 and 40 driver points (pass under yellow)
  • David Welch, GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS ultra - $5,000 and 40 driver points (pass under yellow)
  • Ryan Dalziel, EFFORT Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R - 20 driver points (unsportsmanlike conduct)
  • Bret Curtis, Turner Motorsport BMW Z4 GT3 - start next race from pit lane, perform three successful standing starts during practice (stalling on standing start)
