Hapless Fruit Thieves Caught With An Entire Car Full Of Oranges
This is no segment of pulp fiction. A quintet of thieves really have earned themselves a slice of justice after being caught with a truck and two cars full of stolen oranges near Seville, in Spain.
A married couple, their adult son and two brothers unrelated to the family tried to add some zest to their day by stealing four tonnes of the fruit, worth around £1233, but police pipped them to the post and it was too late for the criminals to save their own skins.
The five claimed that they had found the oranges by the roadside and that they were for personal consumption. You can imagine how the police officers laughed.
Those officers clearly had a fruitful shift. Juicy convictions seem guaranteed. A judge will be ripe to send them down, but we don’t yet know whether the five will appeal.
