Help Me Choose My Next Car!
Hello, humans of CarThrottle!
As many of you know, I’ve spent the last few months writing about – and making mediocre YouTube videos with – my Hummer and my Nissan Skyline GT-R. Now that I’ve sold them, it’s time for you to help me choose a new car to write about next year.
You can check out my criteria over on my Jalopnik column or in my YouTube video above, but I’m going to list the rules here, too. I’ll be paying attention to suggestions from CarThrottle users, and they’ll be going on my master list of car ideas that I’ll choose from.
Budget. The car shouldn’t cost more than $60,000, or maybe $65,000 for the perfect car.
Interest. I cannot stress this point enough: This car has to be something that you’re interested in hearing about for a while. The Hummer seemed to captivate everyone’s interest, week in and week out, for almost a year. On the other hand, some people complained a little about the Skyline. So before you send in your suggestion, ask yourself: Is this something I want to hear about for a year?
Cost. Although I’ve already covered the budget, cost is almost more important: the car cannot lose an insane amount of value over the next year. What I mean by this is, I cannot buy the car today for $50,000 and sell it in a year for $19,500 – that’s too expensive. Sadly, this rule eliminates virtually all new cars.
With these rules in mind, start suggesting some cars here on CarThrottle, on Twitter, or just about anywhere else you can find me! What do you want to hear about for the next year??

BMW M5 E60. Glorious exhaust note, good aftermarket, and the values can’t drop much more. I’d love to hear about it for a year.
Id rather see an older project as opposed to insert generic expensive car here - seeing youtubers bang on about F-types and Cayman GT4s has somewhat taken the appeal of them away for me.
Nissan 180sx or a stagea sleeper
The Opel Lotus Omega aka. Lotus Carlton, once fastest sedan of the world thanks to the lotus-made engine (hence the name) build by now internationally unknown german manufacturer Opel, a underdog of the 90s
I love it, seriously it’s one of my strongest dream cars. I mean 0-60 in about 5sec or so and a top speed of 280km/h for sure. It’s badass and one of the best factory sleepers I can imagine.
I have seen this car only once. Never real life or other videos just this one. Seems very good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yptiCYBSZo
I drove one a year or so ago, and I’m not exaggerrating when I say it’s one of the best cars I’ve ever driven. It felt as tight and capable as a modern car, with all the feedback and epic turbo lag you would normally associate with that era. So much want.
Excellent suggestion! And these are importable now.
Here is someone watching GRIP Deutschland :D
Volvo 740 or Volvo with T5 engine
What was Shelby GT350’s price?
Right now most of the dealer have a stupid high mark up on them if you can even find one for sale.
Lotus Carlton
I like the idea of an NSX. Even a Viper of pretty much any gen can be had except for the current for that budget.
My vote goes for Lotus Carlton (Opel Lotus Omega) . Starting to become a classic and a definite icon in automotive world.
