Here Are Official Pictures Of The New Toyota Supra

We can now show you the new Toyota Supra, after what seems like a lifetime of teasers – but the car still hasn’t been officially revealed.

According to A90 Supra fan forum SupraMkV.com, these two images were automatically distributed to anyone signing up to the new car’s official customer waiting list.

Here Are Official Pictures Of The New Toyota Supra

The images, shot from the classic front three-quarter and rear three-quarter angles, show us everything we need to see all around the new entrant to what’s becoming a stellar compact sports car segment.

Two nicely fat exhaust pipes sit at the outer edges of a large rear diffuser with what looks to be an F1-style light in the centre. Its function could be as a fog light or reversing light. Above it sits a number plate aperture containing not just the classic Supra logo but also the letters GR, signifying Gazoo Racing.

We love the duck-tail spoiler, at the back of which is the Toyota badge, and we’re big fans of the muscular haunches over the rear wheels. Similar bulges over the front rims are accented by vents that may allow air to escape from the front wheel arches, increasing aerodynamic performance.

The front DRL signature is as we’ve already seen and runs the full length of the light cluster and beyond. A front splitter looks to be as much a stylistic feature as anything else, but looks just right beneath a three-section grille. Now we just have to wait for the car’s vital stats to be confirmed in a week or two, but 340bhp and 1500kg are expected.

I personally think it looks a lot better than the FT-1 concept. Toning it back really did it well.

I can understand why people are disappointed. It really is a great sports car, but Nissan raised the bar to supercar-level (and price) with the GTR. Toyota should have picked a different name for this car and should have used “supra” for the Lexus LFA.
