Here's All The Crashy Drama From Last Weekend’s Bathurst 12 Hour

Mount Panorama is an incredibly challenging race track and it played host to the famous Bathurst 12 Hour race last weekend. As you’d expect, it was full of incidents, fails, crashes and drama

The gruelling 2017 Bathurst 12 Hour was incident-filled from start to finish and included a crash for one of the potential winners in the final half an hour.

Having gained the lead through strategy, the No.22 Mercedes was passed by the No.88 Ferrari in stunning style in the closing stages. They even bashed wheels in the process!

Shane van Gisbergen was at the wheel of the Mercedes but he then clashed with a lapped Porsche, picking up a penalty. It wasn’t served though, because he crashed out at The Esses with the finish line in sight.

So, the No.88 Ferrari of Toni Vilander, Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup (who was the one battling the rival Merc in the final hour) stormed to a clear victory by over a lap.

Should have put in a picture of Nakazato, now that was a guy who crashed often.

One of my favourite moments of the race was Toni Vilander telling the marranello motorsport crew off for celebrating after van Gisbergen crashed. Really showed true sportsmanship to me.

Isnt it weird how many of the crashes were partly caused by the AMG?

Dan Clift’s overtake of the RX-7 just as they head down the mountain in the second race was called one of the better moves of the weekend. He’s an old mate from school. It’s quality racing that!
