Here's An Early Preview Of The New Look Top Gear
Last night’s Top Gear marked the end of a short but mostly very good era. The line-up of Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid is no more, with LeBlanc leaving the programme and Reid sadly relegated to Extra Gear presenting duties only.
The trio brought us three of the most car-focused TG series we’ve seen in years, but mere moments after this ‘version’ of the show ended, we were given a sneak preview of what’s to come.
And what’s to come is a presenting team surely no one could have predicted. Chris Harris has been retained, and he’ll be joined by former professional cricketer Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff and comedian/presenter Paddy McGuinness.
The clip features Flintoff rolling a Jaguar XJ hearse (which sounds like it’s straight-piped) with McGuinness and Harris aboard. So yes, there will be plenty of japery, but there’ll presumably still be plenty of room for Harris to slide things about while going into as much geeky detail as he can get away with on mainstream television.
We’re not entirely sure when the series will start - the premieres for series 25 and series 26 were nearly a year apart, so we could be waiting a while.
Comments
I really like Top Gear. Sure it’s not as good as when the trio were there but it’s better than nothing
Wrong. Now it’s just tragic.
I’m looking forward to Paddy probably more than I should, he’s been posting on Instagram videos of him teasing Chris while they’re filming and they’re pretty funny
I want the boys back. Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarckson, and James May are irreplaceable.
Then watch TGT :I?
They’re on Grand Tour now. Stop crying. If you don’t want to watch top gear because the others are “irreplaceable” then don’t watch it nobody is forcing you.
Il still watch it as long as we get Chris Harris on Cars style pieces. Cant say I am looking forward to the Flintoff or McGuiness.
What I would really like is a show where Chris Harris gets to drive important racing cars from all series/eras and talks to the drivers and designers of the car. Like the Drive video on the Porsche 962. BBC 4 maybe?
I love what harris does, as far as i’m concerned he could do it by himself and i’d watch every episode. However, if the new boys have been approved or even co-chosen by him, this might be something. If it’s a bbc-thing they are there now, i’m sceptical.
So basically Chris Harris, a proper, entertaining, knowledgeable car journalist and racing driver is now joined by a former cricket player and the host of Take Me Out.
Yeah that makes sense…..
Look how clarkson trio started out
“Reid sadly relegated” more like the best decision the BBC made, idiot presenter
My TV licence is being used for this. :(
This is worse
It’s like going back to the dark ages when Chris Evans was presenting
No no. Chris evans was awful. They could be okay, or good, or even great.
