The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) was in the news this week for its test of a trio of modern muscle cars, all of which failed to nab the organisation’s ‘Top Safety Pick’

Just wanted to say something here.. the test dummy represents a person who is careless, not paying attention, on the phone or driving while intoxicated.. Every driver should be given a reaction type test to verify if they can act or react in this same type of situation but without the dangers.. In other words.. the test dummy doesn’t react and just sits there.. but if a real human who’s not distracted was placed in this same situation should react in a manor as to avoid these types of wrecks.. Avoidance or defensive driving could save your life just as well as an air bag.. assuming the air bag actually functions correctly.. Also, the rear of the tailer should be redesigned..

well on the highway trucks pull over onto the left lane with no warning countless times to overtake other trucks, usually forcing the cars on the left lane to do emergency braking because the difference in speed is anything between 50-80 km/H. Doesnt matter how fast you react when a truck does that and you happen to have too little distance to brake. Not only have I experienced it myself I also saw many others on the road who were going reasonably fast 160~ maybe and had to emergency brake to survive. Just because those truck drivers just dont care, just dont even indicate in time often and really endanger all of us

These are all brand new trailers, I have seen so many older trailers with the bars bent from backing into something or another small accident. And think what happens if your t-bone a trailer. Some have bars on the side, but most don’t. My wife is a funeral director and I’ve seen what happens when someone runs a red light right into the side (hitting the wheels would probably be better than going under).
