Here's How The 'Confirmed' BMW M2 Could Look
Rumours of a full-on M version of the 2-series coupe have been rife for a while now, but a successor to the 1M has now been all but confirmed, with Bimmer Post reporting that the car has indeed been given the go ahead. To get an idea of just what the M2 could look like, we've commissioned these exclusive renders. And if they're anything to go by, this baby M car will be a stunner.
It'll have the guts to match, too. The car will be powered by the same 3.0-litre twin-scroll turbocharged straight-six as the M235i, fettled to produce around 360-370bhp. That should make 0-62mph possible in well under five seconds. Like the 1M, the car will probably come with a limited-slip differential. Unlike the 1M, though, the production run won't be restricted, Bimmer Post expects.
With other M machines like the M5 now too large and overpowered to be of much use on the roads, we reckon the M2 will be the BMW M car of choice thanks to its compact dimensions and realistic output. The current 2-series range topper - the M235i - is already a stunning car, so we can't wait to see what the steroid-injected M2 is like. Roll on late 2015.
