This interesting video has surfaced explaining in more detail how the innovative Freevalve engines work. It gives the car full individual control of each intake and exhaust valve, allowing individual timings to increase performance or minimise fuel consumption

Wouldn’t it be more efficient to use just pressurised air and get rid of the spring all together?

untill there’s an air leak. I guess it’s for failsafe and it makes the design of the piston easyer since you only need 1 air connection instead of 2.
love this idea, but the real question is

This isn’t something new but I was wondering who will be first to put it in his car, this is a smart thing and move, cause sou cam control via computer every single thing, in racing they think it is not reliable enough but it is awesome cause you can help engine to work easier and with less stress, put it to max when you need and when that isn’t case it can be in cruise mode which will help in making a longer life span and less wear plus it is quite lighter cause there are no camshafts and no belt or chain, with this new technology it will be more reliable and durable!!
That plus thing that will be the thing in maybe 5-10 years are carbon pistons and engines will will a lot longer and better life!!
Believe it or not but I had almost exactly the same idea when I was about 15. Of course it only went as far as a few sketches on paper but nevertheless, I’m afraid Koenigsegg will be hearing from my lawyers shortly.
