Here's Our Best Look Yet At The Next Porsche 911

Porsche's '992' 911 has been spotted testing without camouflage at the Nurburgring

The all-new Porsche 911 is almost upon us. It’s expected to make its debut before the end of the year, but just in case you’re feeling impatient, test mules keep getting spotted at the Nurburgring wearing less and less camouflage.

This particular ‘992’ is entirely undisguised and handily daubed in a nice, bright colour, giving us our best look yet at the car. And it should come as no surprise that it doesn’t really look ‘all-new’ from the outside.

It’s another evolutionary styling approach, which you can hardly blame Porsche for - 911 buyers want something that’s, you know, 911-shaped. Besides, it does look pretty awesome with that new and rather giant active rear spoiler.

The '991.2' Carrera's 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine is expected to be carried over
The '991.2' Carrera's 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine is expected to be…

The core Carrera models will use an evolution of the 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six found in the current car, and for the first time, there’ll be the option of a hybrid 911. Two, in fact.

As before there’ll be a ridiculously fast ‘Turbo’ model, and eventually a track-focused 992 GT3. It’s currently unclear if the latter will stick with an N/A engine or sprout a pair of turbochargers - there have been conflicting rumours on that front.

What do you think of the 992?

The car needs to be smaller. The 911 has become a pseudo-GT car and I don’t like that much.

I actually really like the design of the 992’s back, because it looks like a return to the 993’s rear styling. I really like the design and the specs of the whole car also.

It’s all fun and games and a nice design until the wing pops up and ruins everything.

He can’t. That’s Jalopnik’s video player. You need to complain to Jalopnik.

It actually looks like someone hoisted up the rear end of the 991. It should be getting smaller, not bigger. Then again, Could this mean we get a bigger engine?
