Here's The Perfect Driving Game, As Designed By You Guys
1. Car list should only include road cars
Given the choice between racing cars, road cars, and fictional cars, the overwhelming majority of you chose ‘road cars’. Stealing 75 per cent of the vote, you guys clearly prefer to race the virtual recreations of vehicles you might one day actually own. Racing cars followed behind with 24 per cent of the vote, while fictional cars gained a measly one per cent.
2. The game should be set in an open world location
Another vote that went overwhelmingly in favour of the winner. While ‘real circuits’ had a decent bit of support with 28 per cent of your votes, the ‘open world’ option ran away with a huge 69 per cent of votes - ‘fake circuits’ lagged far behind with a paltry three per cent. The world of sim racing at real tracks allows for addictive gameplay as you attempt to shave tenths off your time, but it seems nothing beats the casual fun of tearing around a living, breathing city like GTA V’s Los Santos.
3. You prefer arcade handling and gorgeous graphics
If the first two questions saw run away winners, this one was where the competition heated up. There tends to be a trade off; computing power can either be used to power insanely realistic physics models or insanely realistic graphics. Therefore we gave you the choice between arcade handling and gorgeous visuals, or a realistic physics model and less crisp graphics.
The former won by a nose, taking 52 per cent of the vote, meaning you guys are marginally in favour of a game like Need For Speed, which looks pretty, but takes some artistic license with the way cars move about.
4. Weapons must not be included
This one was another landslide victory, this time in favour of not having weapons in the game. With 94 per cent of the vote, it’s pretty clear you guys prefer your gaming explosion free!
5. All cars should be fully tuneable
Whenever a new game has been announced, we’re inundated with comments asking if you can drift in the game, and by questions about tuning and modifying. Therefore it’s perhaps no surprise to learn that the most important feature the ultimate Car Throttle game needs to include is tuning, which took 48 per cent of the features vote.
Following closely behind was a huge car list with 40 per cent of votes, while a good storyline and weather simulation trailed at the back of the grid with just seven per cent and six per cent of votes respectively.
