Here's Proof That Sticking A VTEC Engine In A Mini Results In Something Awesome
The Car Throttle Garage is a treasure trove of awesome machinery that any petrolhead could get lost in for hours. While perusing the hottest cars uploaded recently, I came across this fantastic 1993 Rover Mini Tahiti uploaded by BenXL. It’s about as clean on the outside as any Mini you’re ever likely to find, and has performance modifications to match. If you want high horsepower in your Mini, you’re usually better off binning the original engine in favour of something a bit more potent. Ben did just that, running a B18C Honda engine, which makes 208bhp. The race-spec S40 ECU from DTAfast makes sure the new engine runs smoothly with all its shiny new additions.
The engine breathes a little easier (and sounds a lot better) thanks to a custom 2.5-inch stainless steel exhaust with Skunk2 Racing intake. This car is anything but a show queen, regularly seeing track action, and as such features a six-point roll cage from Safety Designs, as well as grippy Yokohama A539 rubber.
The interior is light on luxuries, as a true Mini should be; Recaro bucket seats with harnesses, OMP steering wheel, and Koso RX2N+ digital tachometer - which can display up to 10,000rpm - can be found inside, and not a lot else.
