Here's A Side-By-Side Comparison Of The Streets Of New York From The 1930s And Today
The New Yorker has put together a fascinating video that gives a side-by-side comparison of the roads of New York City from the 1930s and now
This isn’t the first time The New Yorker has put together something like this. A little while ago, the publication created a comparison video showing the streets of LA from the 1940s and today, but this time, the difference is arguably much less striking.
Thanks to the explosion of building activity in Manhatten during the early 20th century, much of the city’s skyline as we know it today was already around in the ‘30s. It looks considerably busier in the modern footage though, and Times Square is shown to be vastly different place nearly 90 years ago.

New York native here, never clicked this so fast
Very interesting! Although I don’t think living in New York at that time would’ve been particularly great.
Dang tht 1930 car was a early Audi/BMW driver
1930s definitely have less Prius than we are now….
The one difference is that there are more Priuses. The car gods are not happy.
The feel when 30s new york has better drivers than india in 2017…and then findung people whining about how bad traffic then in ny was bad for critical damage
Or this:
