Here's Volvo Proving The New XC90 Is One Of The Safest SUVs Ever

Volvo always places great emphasis on safety, so it's no surprise that the new XC90 performs incredibly well in these crash tests

As well as all the expected things like airbags and crumple zones, the new XC90 comes with two world-first safety features: run-off road protection and intersection autobraking. The first feature tightens the front seat belts if difficult terrain is spotted ahead, helping keep the occupants in place. The second will automatically brake the XC90 if the driver pulls out of a side turning or junction into the path of another car.

The most obvious safety feature we can see from this video, though, is strength. Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) is stronger and lighter than the old car’s underpinnings, meaning the new XC90 can take on the roll-over test seen above and remain remarkably intact.
