Here's What Happens If You Hit The Stop/Start Button While Driving
A few days ago we were talking about the urge to do things we shouldn’t - sometimes personified as the ‘Imp of the Perverse - and how that relates to cars. We’re thinking things like pulling the electronic handbrake button while moving, or - in the case of the particular video we were looking at - what might happen if you lobbed your keyless fob out of the window while driving.
It turns out the same channel has also covered another area that could be classed as an Imp of the Perverse moment - what might happen if you were tempted into prodding the stop/start button of your car while moving? There is a sensible point behind it too - it’s feasible that you might hit it by accident while aiming for another button, after all.

What actually happens, at least in the case of this Ford Fusion, is rather undramatic: the car carries on regardless. It is still possible to turn the car off on the move however (something you might need to do in the case of a mechanical issue like a stuck throttle), by simply holding the button down.
So there we are, case closed - now you don’t need to ‘test’ this out yourself…

When you think your Peugeot has this safety feature and try it out…
What if you turn the engine off at 55 mph and then immediately try to turn it back on?
He says “dont try this at home”. Is it even possible to get to 55mph at someones home?
The kind of videos you create when you don’t bother reading the owner’s manual.
5min video to press a single button, gj.
I hate fobs and will buy a car with a key as long as it is possible seeing that i can get my licence back in June…
You could just read the instruction manual… But who does that?
If you do it in a Nissan Leaf it will shut off. Even while doing 80 km/h. Scary stuff
will anything happen if you throw your key out of the window while driving?
Why do people assume multi-million earning motor companies would overlook something as simple as the start button whilst moving??? Honestly…
