Here's What Happens When The Ford Fiesta ST Drag Races Its Rivals
Our love for the new Ford Fiesta ST is almost entirely down to its playful and absurdly capable chassis. But it does happen to be rather quick too: its turbocharged 1.5-litre inline-three develops 197bhp, making 0-62mph possible in just 6.5 seconds.
That’s two tenths faster than a VW Polo GTI, and just a tenth off the considerably more expensive ‘skunk works’ Toyota Yaris GRMN. But what if you brought these three together for a drag race, and chucked in the Peugeot 208 GTI and Mini John Cooper Works for good measure?
That’s exactly what Car Wow has done, which sees the ST pitted against four of its toughest rivals. While the result will make no difference to our opinion that the Ford is the one to have, we’re nonetheless intrigued to find out where each car finishes.

Carwow is the hero we need but dont deserve
What were they thinking when they put that GRMN into the bunch?
400 units limited edition vs millions of others
I guess it’s because it’s the only japanese contender in this segment
It’s still a competitor. It’s just like how the Ford GT and Ferrari 488 are competitors even though one is made way more of compared to the other
3 cylinders can produce more than my 2.5 L NA engine in my Camry. Science gone to far, but in a good way
The confession we need, yet not deserve
still would not buy it. terrible interiors is the trend ford is following these days.
Except for the Mustang
I would take the Mini
what about the Seat Ibiza cupra, Citroën DS3 THP or Opel Corsa OPC?
The DS3 is a heavier 208, so no need for it to be tested in a drag race. The Ibiza is real close to a Polo, but I agree with you on the Corsa
Proof that supercharging > turbocharging
MCM tells another story.
